‘BAD MOOD’ ROSMAH ENTERS THE RING WITH LEGAL WARNING: BUT CAN NAJIB’S WIFE SMACKDOWN & SIT ON HER CRITICS WITHOUT FIRST DENYING SHE IS ‘MRS MO1’

PRIME Minister Najib Razak’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, has threatened to sue those who produce “false, malicious publications or postings” against her, her lawyers said.
In a statement issued by her solicitor Messrs Noorhajran Mohd Noor, the law firm said those who made malicious attacks against Rosmah would face legal action without further notices or references.
“Recently more malicious and baseless attacks have surfaced against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor on blogs and social media.
“These attacks are false allegations made without any proof or basis, done with malice with the sole intent of putting Rosmah in disrepute, casting aspersions of alleged wrongdoings and causing harm and injury to her reputation,” the statement read.
The statement was dated yesterday, a day after the US Department of Justice filed a civil action to begin seizing assets worth US$540 million (RM2.3 billion), believed to have been purchased using money siphoned from state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
The DoJ is seeking to seize, among others, Malaysian financier Low Teck Jho, or Jho Low’s, luxury yacht called Equanimity which is worth US$165 million (RM704 million) and rights to the film “Dumb and Dumber To” produced by Red Granite, a production house co-owned by Riza Aziz, Najib’s stepson.
The DoJ suit also noted that Low had purchased, using money from 1MDB, a 22-carat pink diamond necklace for the “wife of Malaysian Official No. 1” (MO1). MO1 was previously identified as the prime minister by a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. The necklace was said to have cost US$27.3 million.
According to the statement, Rosmah’s lawyers are closely monitoring all postings on social media platforms and other publications in relation to the false and malicious attacks against her.
“This media statement is to caution the public from making any false and malicious postings and statements, which can cause public confusion and misrepresentations of facts with regard to allegations made against Rosmah.
“More specifically, publications and postings with unverified sources and baseless contents framed and intended as an indirect hate and gutter political attacks,” the statement read.
The statement bearing the letterhead of the law firm was shared with reporters by Rosmah’s special officer Rizal Mansor via a WhatsApp chat group.
DoJ’s latest suit, its third since last year, brings the total amount allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB to US$4.5 billion (RM19.24 billion).
The Prime Minister’s Office has dismissed the latest DoJ suit as “unproven allegations”, while Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali said it was a repeat of last year’s US$1 billion suit, adding that his office had yet to be provided with proof that money had been siphoned from 1MDB.
