‘EMPEROR WITHOUT CLOTHES’ NAJIB WARNS AGAINST ‘SELF-INDULGENT’ OPPOSITION LEADERS AFTER HE HIMSELF SPENDS MILLIONS ON CREDIT CARDS, PROPERTIES, DIAMONDS

KANGAR – Datuk Seri Najib Razak today advised the people to elect leaders who are really able to govern the country and not self-indulgent leaders who are even prepared to nominate themselves to be the prime minister.
The prime minister said that while Umno and the Barisan Nasional remained consistent in serving the people, the Opposition was in disarray and was incapable of taking care of the people.
“Nobody has the right to be the prime minister unless it is through the process of elections. In a parliamentary democracy, the party which wins the most number of seats is eligible to form the government and appoint a prime minister.
“One cannot bargain to be the prime minister, as was happening now in the Opposition. Since independence, the prime minister has come from Umno because Umno had the most number of seats in Parliament,” he said at the ‘Prime Minister with the Perlis Umno Grassroots Leaders’ event at Dewan 2020 here.
Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Perlis Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim and Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man were also present at the event that drew almost 3,000 Umno members.
Najib said Umno remained intact and strong and was capable of winning the next general election.
He said it was pointless to appoint so-and-so to be the candidate for prime minister when the party was unable to command the majority of seats in Parliament.

“The Flower Party (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) has only one seat (in Parliament). Umno has 88 seats. It does not make sense (for them) to be choosing a candidate for prime minister,” he said.
Najib expressed confidence that Umno and BN would return to power in Perlis in the next general election based on the strong unity among party members.
“I am confident that Perlis (Umno and BN) can win 3-0 (the parliamentary seats of Kangar, Arau and Padang Besar) and BN can form the state government,” he said.
The prime minister advised party members to learn from the Battle of Badr and Uhud during the time of Prophet Muhammad, which was to remain loyal to leaders.
“We do not care if the state is small or big, for what we want is a 100 per cent victory, and if we adhere to the Principles of Wala’, InsyaAllah (God willing) we will achieve a 100 per cent victory,” he said.
At the event, Najib announced an allocation of RM6 million for Perlis to repair dilapidated houses and improve the road system.
Najib is scheduled to break fast and attend Maghrib prayers at Masjid Pering in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, as well as hand over contributions and launch the street lighting project and attend Isyak and Tarawih prayers at Masjid Bukit Pinang, Kota Setar, Alor Setar, before returning to Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
