Najib Congratulates Heidy Quah For Winning Queen's Young Leaders Award

KUALA LUMPUR: A young Malaysian's effort in championing refugee issues which enabled her to receive international recognition was commended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday.

Najib said he was proud of Heidy Quah, 23, founder of non-profit organisation Refuge For The Refugees (RFTR), who will be receiving a Young Leaders Award from Britain's Queen Elizabeth Il, end of this month.

RFTR was set up in 2012 with an aim to help refugees receive education.

"Congratulations @heidyquah on being chosen for the Queen's Young Leaders Award. Your selfless work is an inspiration to others. Proud of u!" Najib tweeted tonight.

Last Thursday, the Star reported that Heidy is the sole Malaysian winner of the 2017 Queen's Young Leaders Award as recognition for her work in helping refugees.

The Queen's Young Leaders Award recognises and celebrates exceptional people aged 18 to 29 from across the Commonwealth member countries, who are taking the lead in communities and using their skills to transform lives.
